The Sports Physical Therapy Section of the American Physical Therapy Association will be hosting a 1-day introductory workshop on the Janda Approach to Muscle Imbalance Syndromes. The 8-hour workshop is open to physical therapists and physical therapist assistants attending the APTA’s annual Combined Sections Meeting held in New Orleans, Louisiana. The course will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from 8AM to 5:30PM. Click here for more information on the conference including registration. Here is the course description:

This one day preconference course introduces the teachings of the late Professor Vladimir Janda, MD.  Janda was a pioneer in muscle imbalances and chronic musculoskeletal pain. He identified specific clinical “crossed syndromes” of neuromuscular imbalance, focusing more on global function than isolated structures. This 8 hour workshop will describe the scientific basis for Janda’s approach, as well as a systematic evaluation and treatment of functional pathology. An evidence-based approach to the conservative management of common musculoskeletal conditions will also be presented for the upper and lower quarter.

The course will be led by Phil Page PT PhD ATC, Andre Labbe PT, and Tim Tyler PT, ATC.
